Some confusion is obvious on the set of NBC's "Today" show, regarding the Internet and the @-sign. This is reportedly footage from between segments that was not originally aired, and apparently dates to January 1994, around the time of the Northridge earthquake (that occurred literally five minutes from where I'm sitting, and which I remember very well indeed). Both the video and audio of this clip were in terrible shape when I received it recently -- I've cleaned up both as much as possible, though the quality (especially hue distortion) still definitely isn't anything to write home about. Don't laugh too hard at Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric. It's easy to forget how relatively recent a phenomenon the Internet is for most persons who use it today!

YouTube HD has arrived :] Reading 1994 was a 12 song show, only available in it's entirety in a 320x240 version. WOWOW had a 7 song DVD version that cut off the end of Anyone Can Play Guitar. What I have done is pieced together the show, using the WOWOW DVD quality where possible, and a Video Enhanced version of the lower quality video for the other 5 songs; piecing Anyone Can Play Guitar together (not so well) when the DVD cuts off (in the credits you can see how WOWOW cut off the song at 43:10 (I've included this for reference purposes)). Sample enhancement: img5.imageshack.us Took about 2 hours to piece it all together (including encoding over and over). Video enhancement of the low quality version took around 18 hours, ha, although I did do some smoothing too to make it look more appealing. The audio was also stripped out of the DVD quality videos and MP3Gain'd to +5db so that volume levels were maintained. I hope you can enjoy what I've provided ;). We hooked up the DAT machine and inserted the tape with the utmost care, pressing play and praying that for one, the tape contained what we hoped, and two, that it didn't savage it like a dog chewing on a bone. In amongst the hiss and crackle, a monstrous 909 kick drum began to thud -- Daft Punk's Drive track had been rediscovered. Playing through was live Daft Punk: the freaky vocals, pounding Roland drums & synths and that distinctive DP compression. After standing in awed silence, witnessing this moment, the track faded off and we heard the sounds of French words that the recording had been made over; the remnants of their parents audio collection.
