At GDC 2012 in March, we had the opportunity to speak with Thibault Imbert, Flash Player Product Manager for Adobe, and learn more about how Adobe Flash Player enables accelerated experiences through Stage 3D on AMD APU and GPUs. Thibault explains how third party Flash Stage 3D frameworks, like Away3D and Alternativa3D for 3D and Starling for 2D, are designed to provide game developers with a way to access GPU acceleration through Actionscript for both 2D and 3D games. I decided to get the AMD A8 APU the 3870k Black Edition Processing unit. I also got the Radeon 6670 to try out hybrid crossfire. Until now I have to admit that the performance of the build in 6550d in combination with my 6670 is a perfect combo. I´m able to do light gaming on actual titels on medium setting of course.... While the official meeting was about the performance of the Radeon HD 7970 and HD 7950, when things started to settle several AMD employees couldn't help but discuss Cape Verde (7700-series) and Pitcairn (7800-series) GPUs. In particular, the HD 7800 cards were generating a lot of excitement internally as a spiritual follow up to the wildly successful HD 5800 and HD 5700 series of cards in terms of price and performance characteristics.
