"Die Glocken" (The Bells) (1929) Heino Eller (1887-1970) was a major Estonian composer best remembered as composition teacher of Eduard Tubin and Arvo Pärt. Eller attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory initially as a violin student before focusing on composition. He wrote mostly instrumental works, including symphonies, tone poems, ballets, string quartets, a handful of piano sonatas and numerous preludes. His early works from 1910-20 reveal Scriabin's and Rachmaninov's influence. In the 1930s Eller's tonal language became more modern and he ran into trouble with Soviet authorities who condemned some of his works as "formalist." In response, Eller relaxed his modernism and incorporated Estonian folk song into his music.
On June 17th, 2010, was traded to the Montreal Canadiens along with Ian Schultz in exchange for goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Playing career In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, he was drafted 13th overall by the St. Louis Blues.[1] He was the highest ever drafted Danish born and trained player in NHL history until friend and former teammate Mikkel Bødker was selected as number eight overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Jan Popiel was drafted tenth overall in the 1964 NHL Amateur Draft. However, he learned to play hockey in Canada. Furthermore, he changed nationality before making his debut. He spent part of the 2007--08 season with Borås in the HockeyAllsvenskan, on loan from Frölunda. Eller moved to North America for the 2009--10 season. His preseason was spoiled by mononucleosis and as a result, he started the season in Peoria. He was called up by St. Louis and made his NHL debut on November 5, 2009 in a game against the Calgary Flames in which the Blues lost 2-1. He scored the only Blues goal, beating Miikka Kiprusoff off of a deflection and had three shots on goal in 9:42 minutes of ice time. Eller appeared in five NHL games before returning to Peoria Rivermen, finishing the season with seven games for the St-Louis Blues. In Peoria he was named AHL Rookie of the Month for the month of March.[1] He was also selected for the 2009-10 AHL All-Rookie Team.[2]

They gathered in a hotel room in Beirut, Lebanon to capture a jammed version of the song. The result is what you hear in this video. It's all authentic, without rehearsals. Note from Eller himself: "There was an error in the recording of the guitar. Some parts you hear are original, some measures are redone. The version we did was way too beautiful to do it completely over again. We didn't want to loose the moment over a bad cable, making cracky noises. It's just bits of the guitar parts, the vocals are still original. If you listen closely, you'll hear it. I tried to redo what I did in the first place, but as I was originally improvising this wasn't an easy thing to do."
