Gretchen, nome artístico de Maria Odete Brito de Miranda (Rio de Janeiro, 29 de maio de 1959), é uma cantora, atriz e dançarina brasileira que se conhecida como a "Rainha do Bumbum" em razão do jeito como dançava, virando-se de costas para as câmeras de televisão e para a platéia, tornando-se a pioneira da "Bunda Music". O nome artístico foi inspirado no título do filme Aleluia Gretchen. Biografia Gretchen iniciou a carreira como "crooner" da orquestra do Maestro Zaccaro em 1976. Ainda na adolescência, integra o grupo As Melindrosas com as irmãs Sueli, Yara ea prima Paula. Depois parte para carreira solo (fim dos anos 70 a era disco), com o compacto Dance With Me pelo qual recebe um disco de ouro por mais de 150 mil cópias vendidas. A estréia de Maria Odete como "Gretchen" para o grande público da TV aconteceu no Programa Carlos Imperial, na Rede Tupi. "Gretchen" surgiu em 1978 pelas mãos do argentino Santiago Malnati, conhecido nos meios musicais como Mister Sam. Em 1977, Sam a viu num programa de calouros junto com suas irmãs, que se apresentavam como "As Mirandas" e assumiu a sua carreira.
