BMW Hill Descent Control (HDC) 陡坡緩降系統

Hill Descent Control (HDC) holds the vehicle steadily at a pre-determined speed, helping with the job of brake control so that the driver can concentrate completely on steering. This makes the potentially difficult task of driving down a steep hill or over rough ground easy. Hill Descent Control (HDC), a driver assistant system in four-wheel drive vehicles, can be activated with the press of a button. When travelling at less than 35 km/h, HDC assists you by reducing you to a constant speed of approx. 7 km/h, or 6.5 km/h when reversing. The brake lights come on automatically to warn any drivers situated behind your BMW. The accelerator and tempomat can be used to vary speed between crawling speed and 25 km/h, but if you want, you can of course move faster or slower: HDC then goes into standby mode. It is deactivated once your speed goes above 60 km/h. HDC is particularly helpful when driving on changeable, loose or slippery downhill surfaces, such as gravel, snow or grass. Together with ABS, it ensures excellent stability while still preventing the wheels from locking if you apply the brakes on a slope. This prevents the vehicle from skidding and permits you to retain control over the steering. When HDC deactivates, it goes into fade-out mode, gradually reducing braking force and giving you enough time to again take full control of your speed.

2012 NISSAN Frontier - Hill Descent Control

Hill Descent Control (if so equipped) The Hill Descent Control system helps control vehicle speed when going down a steep hill, so the driver can concentrate on steering. To activate this system, the vehicle's transmission must be in FORWARD or REVERSE gear. The 4-Wheel drive switch must be at 4LO and the vehicle's speed must be UNDER 15 miles an hour; OR the 4-Wheel drive switch must be at 4H and the vehicle speed must be UNDER 21 miles an hour; AND the Hill Descent Control switch must be ON. To turn the system ON, push the bottom of this switch. When the system activates, you'll see the Hill Descent Control indicator light illuminate. At the same time, the stoplights and tail lights will come on while Hill Descent Control uses the brakes to control vehicle speed. To turn the Hill Descent Control system OFF, push the top of the switch.

Steep Descent

Another Vid, driving down a steep hill on Dartmoor. All the roads were closed and the police had adviced people not to travel (because there were a couple of inches of snow!!) Some of the hills were really difficult to get up as they had a few days of snow and ice from the melted snow. The front wheels were really struggling to get any grip on the ice, and even with Hill Descent Control it was having a hard job slowing down.
