He sent me the original youtube video (channel: BritneyTV) of this with his message: "Well, here it is -- we thought she was dead and buried, but now resurrected. From #96 to #1 on the pop charts, and begging for a Mozartean makeover." So with an invite like that, I was on it! Trained as a classical violinist, I like having exact sheet music to practice or perform from. So I transcribed a part for myself by ear, listening to the original video, seen here: www.youtube.com Technical notes: My camera is junk. I cant even record sound off it anymore, most of the time its full of random static. I have to use a separate sound recorder and the sync it up to the video in my editing suite. For this recording it was my computer recording sound off an ancient $5 microphone, the same one I use for VOIP in online multiplayer 1st person shooter gaming, its junk. I am surprised it sounded as good as it did most of the time quite frankly. Performance notes: To the critics: I see my right little finger keeps coming off the bow ... I don't know why. I wasn't even aware till I saw the video myself. That needs correction. Also, I know my intonation was iffy at best at times. Don't pick on my right arm ... it's all beat up, I cant keep it up high enough where it needs to be, it hurts real bad and its like its never going to get better ... so nothing <b>...</b>

"Cosmic Messenger" was the title track of an album by French jazz-fusion artist Jean-Luc Ponty, released in 1978. The album was a great success for Ponty, peaking at number two on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and crossing over to reach #36 on the Pop Album chart, as well. Jean-Luc Ponty (born September 29, 1942) is a French virtuoso violinist and jazz composer. Ponty was born into a family of classical musicians in Avranches, France. His father taught violin, his mother taught piano. At sixteen, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, graduating two years later with the institution's highest award, Premier Prix. In turn, he was immediately hired by one of the major symphony orchestras, Concerts Lamoureux, where he played violin for three years. While still a member of the orchestra in Paris, Ponty picked up a side gig playing clarinet (which his father had taught him) for a college jazz band that regularly performed at local parties. It proved to be a life-changing jumping-off point. A growing interest in the jazz sounds of Miles Davis and John Coltrane compelled him to take up the tenor saxophone. One night after an orchestra concert, still wearing his formal tuxedo, Ponty found himself at a local jazz club with only his violin. It's not exactly how it's written; I just needed the sheet music to look off for reference. The violin part can be found in the voice part from that sheet music, but otherwise, Daniel was also improvising on his own in certain parts as well! ENJOY!!

Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California, is a street performers paradise. The pedestrian-only three-block strip of high-end shops and restaurants is just a short walk from the beach. It welcomes an estimated 10 million visitors each year. [Chrissy DePauw, Street Performer]: Santa Monica is a place where people from all over the world come, and so Im getting my music all over the world by staying in one place. The variety is huge. The talent is impressive. [Josh Vietti, Street Performer]: My name is Josh Vietti, and Im a pop violinist. Street musicians and other performers pay a yearly fee of thirty-seven dollars to the city for a permit to claim a spot on the promenade. Local ordinance also regulates the noise level of a performance and makes sure performers move to a different spot every two hours. Its a small price many talented performers are willing to pay for what some consider to be the worlds best street performance venue. [Chrissy DePauw, Street Performer]: Being out here and selling cds, I would probably sell more than I would if they were sitting in a record store, because there arent very many record stores anymore. Many artists consider street performing to be a way to maintain control over their own careers.
