Encountering Auschwitz (2005)

Auschwitz was the largest camp established by the Nazis. A complex of camps, Auschwitz included a concentration, extermination, and forced-labor camp. It was located 37 miles west of Krakow (Cracow), near the prewar German-Polish border. It is estimated that at minimum 1.3 million people were deported to Auschwitz between 1940 and 1945; of these, at least 1.1 million were murdered. In this film from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, historians and survivors discuss the significance of Auschwitz. Twin Holocaust survivors describe arriving at Auschwitz

Identical twin sisters Iudit Barnea and Lia Huber (nées Tchengar) were born in 1937 in the town of Şimleul Silvaniei (Szilagysomlyo), Transylvania. In 1940, Transylvania was annexed to Hungary, and in June 1942 their father Zvi was taken to a forced labor unit on the Russian front. With the German conquest of Hungary in March 1944, the familys property and belongings were confiscated, and they were forced to wear a yellow star. In May 1944 Iudit, Lia and their mother, Miriam-Rachel, were interned in a ghetto, and the following month they were deported to Auschwitz, along with many other members of their family. At Auschwitz, Iudit and Lia suffered the infamous medical experiments of Josef Mengele. The twins always stayed close together. Every night, their mother would sneak into their block and give them her meager portion of bread. She would also take them outside, in all weathers, to wash them and comb their hair, and thus preventing them from getting infested by lice and being doomed to the gas chambers. One day, as Mengele was experimenting on the girls, Miriam-Rachel burst into the shack and begged him to stop. In response, she was injected with a concoction that nearly killed her, and caused her permanent deafness. In January 1945 the girls and their mother were liberated by the Red Army. They returned to Şimleul Silvaniei, and in August 1945 they were reunited with their father, who had survived many camps. In 1960 the family immigrated to Israel. Both girls ...

The Auschwitz: Oswiecim, Poland

This is a photostory of my visit to The Auschwitz in Oswiecim, Poland in 2005. This was one of the main concentration camps used by Hitler for purpose of work camps, slavery, and the eventual attempted and failed extermination of the Jewish race, homosexuals, and people with disabilities. Among these millions of victims were several other beautiful souls from diverse backgrounds that gave or had their lives stolen in the events of WWII. The Auschwitz-Birkenau is probably the most well-known of all the concentration camps. A short bus ride from Krakow on a snowy, winter's morning in December 2004. A few of the older pictures are taken from various sources to show comparisons between "then" and "now." All obviously "new or current" photos were taken by myself. This may be graphic for some, PG-13 rating due to WWII photos of the atrocities that took place here. Please visit the official web site of the Memorial Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau at www.auschwitz-muzeum.oswiecim.pl Shalom! Pray for the peace of Israel. The pictures in this montage (aside from 3 that are public domain from historical record) are of my own taken by me personally. The song used in this montage is written and performed by GIORA FEIDMAN & RONIT SHAPIRA-OYF'N PRIPETSHOK / NACHT AKTIO UMG. Full permission of use and rights to use this song on my montage are freely given by this author. I give them many special thanks.

Auschwitz Survivor on Palestine

Auschwitz survivor Dr. Hajo Meyer talks about the differences between the Nazi's treatment of the Jews and the Palestinians today. Meyer expresses in impassioned terms his dismay at what he sees as the moral collapse of contemporary Israeli society and the worldwide Jewish community as a whole. Meyer is a member of "A Different Jewish Voice," a Dutch-based, secular Jewish movement that dares to openly criticize Israel's policies toward the Palestinians. In his observations, deeply colored by his personal experiences during the Holocaust, Meyer compares Israel's current policies with the early stages of the Nazis' persecution of the German Jews. He clearly explains that he is in no way seeking to draw a parallel between the current policies of Israel and the Nazis' endgame, which resulted in the mass murder of six million innocent people. He is merely trying to point out the slippery slope that eventually led to this catastrophe, and the necessity of foreseeing the possible consequences of a policy that oppresses and marginalizes the Palestinians in their own homeland. As a result of his experiences in Auschwitz, Hajo Meyer claims to have learned one fundamental lesson: that his moral duty as a human being was to never become like his oppressors. The End of Judaism is the outcry of a dissident Jew who is not afraid of standing up to entrenched ways of thinking about history and particularly about the Palestinian conflict, which is one of the most intractable social and ...
Auschwitz through the lens of the SS

In December 2006, a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and former member of the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) wrote to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum archives. As one of its many tasks as a military intelligence agency, the CIC conducted investigations of Nazi perpetrators for US prosecutors in the Judge Advocate General's Office after World War II. While stationed in Germany in 1946, this officer found a photograph album in an abandoned apartment in Frankfurt and took it home with him. In 2007, he donated the album to the Museum, but wanted his donation to remain anonymous. The album contained 116 pictures taken between May and December 1944 chronicling the life of SS officers and other officials at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. The rare images capture SS guards and Nazi officials relaxing and enjoying time off—hunting, singing, trimming Christmas trees, and more—all while Jews were being murdered at rates as fast as anytime during the Holocaust. The album was created and owned by Karl Hoecker, an adjunct to camp Kommandant Richard Baer. The album complements the only other known collection of photographs taken at Auschwitz, published as the "Auschwitz Album" in 1980. Those images specifically depict the arrival of Hungarian Jews at the camp in late May 1944, and the selection process that the SS imposed on them. Some of the images contained in the new album were taken just days later. In contrast to documenting mass murder, they focus on the ...

Auschwitz: The Nazi and the Final Solution (1/5)

documentary.thevidblog.com AUSCHWITZ THE CORRUPTION At the Auschwitz camp, a large amount of wealth was stolen from the Jews. The Goldjuden or Jews of gold were in charge of handling the money, gold, stocks, and jewelry. They subjected the prisoners to an intimate search just before the gas chambers. Jewish women had relationships with SS guards to save their life. So called camp doctors, especially the notorious Josef Mengele, would torture and inflict incredible suffering on Jewish children, Gypsy children and many others. Patients were put into pressure chambers, tested with drugs, castrated, frozen to death and exposed to various other traumas. Josef Mengele, did a number of twin studies, and these twins were usually murdered after the experiment was over and their bodies dissected. In the case of the twins, he drew sketches of each twin, for comparison. Mengele was almost fanatical about drawing blood from twins, mostly identical twins. Only a few survived....

I Will Survive: Dancing Auschwitz.Part3

This clip complements the previous two clips in the series 'I Will Survive: Dancing Auschwitz.' In June 2009, I, together with my father, my four children and niece, travelled to Poland to retrace my parents' past. While on a cattle wagon at Radagost Station in Lodz, my father experiences flashbacks. He reenacts the memory of his three-day journey in a similar cattle wagon, heading to Auschwitz, 65 years earlier, and appears to enter a trancelike state. In his native tongue, he carries on an improvised dialogue with the imaginary peasants he passed on the way. This clip also raises my own personal concerns as a Jew. I ask my father: 'Do I look like a 'JEW?' I ask my mother: 'If you had your time again, would you choose to be Jewish?' and I ask my daughter: 'What did you feel when you returned to Australia?'

My Auschwitz Trip (2007) - "Gas Chambers", Zyklon B, Krematorium I-III

Holocaust and its' 6000000 figure is a mythical figure (which was already during WW1 claimed), and Holocaust is in its' nature propagandistic, it is full of many admitted propaganda lies, inaccuracies, contradictions, impossibilities, unproven rumors and admittedly false witnesses and many of the gassing claims are admittedly false (in Dachau, Buchenwald and Bergen-Belsen). www.vho.org www.vho.org www.vho.org This is why Holocaust must be analyzed extremely critically and sceptically, demanding especially the gassings stories to be proven scientifically (if possible). This is also why the courts' hierarchy of evidence must be strictly applied, which means that superior (physical and documentary) evidence refutes inferior evidence (eyewitnesses and 'confessions'). In addition, there is no evidence that 5-6 million Jews died, nor that they are even missing: www.vho.org Jewish revisionist David Cole made this classic video about Auschwitz in 1992: www.youtube.com Unlike many other videos, in my video you'll see footage from Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, which is the bigger camp, 3 km away from the main camp. First in Birkenau you'll see the disinfection gas chambers that were only used to delouse clothes with Zyklon B gas, and the walls of these buildings have blue Zyklon B staining due to repeated use of the gas (ferrocyanide residues). Nobody has ever claimed that people were killed in these rooms, only lice in clothing. There is 1000 times more total cyanide residues ...

Nuremberg, Mauthausen, Belsen, and Auschwitz Trials (1948)

thefilmarchive.org Bergen-Belsen (or Belsen) was a Nazi concentration camp in Lower Saxony in northwestern Germany, southwest of the town of Bergen near Celle. Originally established as the prisoner of war camp Stalag XI-C, in 1943 it became a concentration camp on the orders of Heinrich Himmler, where Jewish hostages were held with the intention of exchanging them for German prisoners of war held overseas. Later still the name was applied to the displaced persons camp established nearby, but it is most commonly associated with the concentration camp it became as conditions deteriorated between 1943-1945. During this time an estimated 50000 Russian prisoners of war and a further 50000 inmates died there, up to 35000 of them dying of typhus in the first few months of 1945. Many of the former SS staff that survived the typhus epidemic were tried by the British at the Belsen Trial. At the trial, the world got its first view of Irma Grese, Elisabeth Volkenrath, Juana Bormann, Fritz Klein, Josef Kramer, and the rest of the SS men and women who before served at Mittelbau Dora, Ravensbrück, Auschwitz I, II, III, and Neuengamme. Many of the female guards had served at small Gross Rosen subcamps at Neusalz, Langenleuba, and the Mittelbau-Dora subcamp at Gross Werther. Dozens of the personnel of Bergen-Belsen were found guilty of murder and of crimes against humanity, and most of those were hanged.
