www.monstercat.net It's early on a Wednesday morning, and we're gathered in a quaint little barber shop along a charming stretch of shops in Siglap. The weather is perfect. A light drizzle has made the air light and cool, which is just ideal for the music we're about to play. The mood of the owner of the barber shop, however, isn't so swell. The elderly gentleman is worried that our performance will chase away potential customers and it takes some persuading for him to let us stay. Anxiously we begin. Immediately, the gentle sway of "Jatuh" fills the shop. It gathers and builds, falls and then rises again. We get lost in the song, the tender lyrics and Liyana's captivating voice. When we're done we look up at the uncle. He's seated in a chair, shoulders relaxed, looking at us with a smile on his face. "One more take?" asks Liyana with a cheeky grin. *** Images by Tha Artist (http Thanks to Liyana Fizi, Arif Ramly and the New Star barber shop.
