Peering into trouble

The morning after the 2 adult wild dogs were killed the others were reluctant to approach the den and kept coming over the rise searching the distance for the lions. For the whole day they kept peering over the rocks looking for lions and not even going to the den to feed the pups.

Astronomy : Peering Billions of Years into the Past (Hebrew Subtitles)

For more than fifty years, astronomers at this radio telescope in the heart of the English countryside have been peering into space. Now, with the aid of six other telescopes around the country — their view is about to get even better. The new fiber-optic network, called e-MERLIN will hugely increase the capability of Jodrell Bank Observatory — bringing astrophysicists like Dr Tim O'Brien to expect major improvements in what we understand about the universe. [Dr Tim O'Brien, Senior Lecturer in Astrophysics]: "When we use radio telescopes to look out in space, or indeed any telescope, we are seeing the universe as it was. The farther away we look in space the farther back in time we are seeing. So the advantage of being able to increase the power of a system like e-Merlin is to be able to see father way in space and indeed father back in time. So we are looking back in some cases billions of years in time." The fiber-optic cable the length of Britain, along with a new super-computer, will radically improve the quality of images astronomers can now see. [Dr Tim O'Brien, Senior Lecturer in Astrophysics]: "The amount of data that will be travelling through our network of seven telescopes arriving back here at Jodrell, when we are fully operational, is equivalent to the whole of the UK internet combined. Whatever everybody else is doing on the internet in the UK, that amount of data will flowing into Jodrell Bank to let us make these images of the radio sky." The e-MERLIN ...

Level 3 versus Comcast peering dispute

This video gives a full explanation of what happened between Level 3 Communications. Level 3 asserted that Comcast wanted to tax Netflix under the threat of blocking them which was therefore a "Net Neutrality" violation. Comcast said they threatened no such thing and this was just a private peering dispute between Level 3 and Comcast, and no website companies or applications were singled out or threatened. This video gets to the bottom of this by explaining how peering and Internet transit functions, and by examining the known facts surrounding this dispute. Note that video got slightly ahead of audio towards end because YouTube didn't sync it right in their encoding. www.digitalsociety.org Correction: Level 3 and Tata are the only transit providers for Comcast as of December 2010. Battle of Gettysburg - On top of Little Round Top Peering into the Devil's Den

Many historians have said that the Union's ability to hold Little Round Top saved the Battle of Gettysburg. From this vantage point you can see the rocky terrain the Confederates had to climb. Down below is Devil's Den and beyond that the Triangle field, both important skirmishes leading up to Little Round Top. Ultimate the Union forces hold this important high ground which leads to Pickett's Charge the following day, July 3, 1863.

Opeth - Harvest

Opeth - Harvest Stay with me awhile Rise above the vile Name my final rest Poured into my chest Into the orchard I walk peering way past the gate Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead Halo of death, all I see is departure Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr Pledge yourself to me Never leave me be Sweat breaks on my brow Given time ends now Into the orchard I walk peering way past the gate Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead Halo of death, all I see is departure Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr Spirit painted sin Embers neath my skin Veiled in pale embrace Reached and touched my face Into the orchard I walk peering way past the gate Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead Halo of death, all I see is departure Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr

Children of the corn- Music Video

Everytime I listen to Opeth-Harvest it always reminded me of this movie so I decided to make this video. Here are the lyrics to Harvest- Stay with me a while, Rise above the vile. Name my final rest, Poured into my chest. Into the orchard i walk peering way past the gate. Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait. Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead. Halo of death, all i see is departure. Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr. Pledge yourself to me , Never leave me be, Sweat breaks on my brow, Given time ends now. Into the orchard i walk peering way past the gate. Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait. Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead. Halo of death, all i see is departure. Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr. Spirit painted sin, Embers neath my skin, Veiled in pale embrace, Reached and touched my face. Into the orchard i walk peering way past the gate. Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait. Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead. Halo of death, all i see is departure. Mourner's lament but it's me who's the martyr.

The Anatomy of Session Border Controllers (1 of 7)

Session Border Controllers (SBCs) were introduced in the first half of this decade to mainly address transport of VoIP calls across disparate IP networks. Over time a diverse set of services have blossomed while a new carrier architecture has been born (IMS) which together has morphed the scale, QoS, security, media conversion, and other requirements of the SBC. There are a range of views on which SBC approaches best address these challenges. For example, opinions vary on the appropriate feature set, the balance between software and hardware, stand alone versus integrated approaches, and centralized versus distributed architectures. This session will hear from leading SBC product vendors looking at their product positioning, what features they have included and/or excluded, and how they have architected and built their products to address what they see as the market requirements.
