The Venus Project-Resource Based Economy

The term and meaning of a Resource-Based Economy was originated by Jacque Fresco. It is a holistic social and economic system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all of the inhabitants, not just a select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the Earth is abundant with plentiful resource; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival. Modern society has access to highly advanced technology and can make available food, clothing, housing and medical care; update our educational system; and develop a limitless supply of renewable, non-contaminating energy. By supplying an efficiently designed economy, everyone can enjoy a very high standard of living with all of the amenities of a high technological society. A resource-based economy would utilize existing resources from the land and sea, physical equipment, industrial plants, etc. to enhance the lives of the total population. In an economy based on resources rather than money, we could easily produce all of the necessities of life and provide a high standard of living for all.

TEDxOjai - Jacque Fresco - Resource Based Economy

Jacque Fresco is a self-educated structural designer, philosopher of science, concept artist, educator, and futurist. He is considered by many to be a modern-day Da Vinci. Peer to Einstein and Buckminster Fuller, Jacque is a self-taught futurist who describes himself most often as a "generalist" or multi-disciplinarian — a student of many inter-related fields. He is a prolific inventor, having spent his entire life (he is now 95 years old) conceiving of and devising inventions on various scales which entail the use of innovative technology. As a futurist, Jacque is not only a conceptualist and a theoretician, he is also an engineer and a designer. His organization, The Venus Project works to provide a global vision of hope for the future of humankind in our technological age. The Venus Project reflects the culmination of Jacque's life work: the integration of the best of science and technology into a comprehensive plan for a new society based on human and environmental concern. It is a global vision of hope for the future of humankind in our technological age. A major documentary entitled, Future By Design, on the life, designs, and philosophy of Jacque Fresco is now available at www.fbdthemovie.com. The film Zeitgeist Addendum featuring Mr. Fresco and The Venus Project produced by Peter Joseph was released in 2008. A sequel to this documentary Zeitgeist Moving Forward was released in 2011 featuring Mr. Fresco, his work, and direction for the future. In thespirit of ideas <b>...</b>

Resource Based Economy vs. Libertarianism

www.zeitgeistlive.tv Wars, protests, revolutions - the ball is rolling toward global collapse of the system that has prevailed since the end of World War II. The elite have a plan to replace it - their "solution" - but the true solutions will arise from the informed public, those with tempered demeanors and careful diction. Two such solutions are discussed here - John Bush, director of Texans for Accountable Government (http is in the Libertarian corner, while Douglas Mallette, coordinator for the Zeitgeist Movement Technology Team (www.zeitnews.org), flexes the Resource Based Economy (RBE) model - both of which manage the delicate balance of intelligence and compassion that the ideas of most world "leaders" presently lack. Ever wanted to see a discussion between Jacque Fresco and Ludwig von Mises? We sure have, but, until that happens, we like to think of this as the next best thing.

Resource Based Economy [solution to coming war]

Simply stated, within a Resource Based Economy we will utilize existing resources - rather than money - to provide an equitable method of distribution in the most humane and efficient manner. It is a system in which all goods and services are available to everyone without the use of money, credits, barter, or any other form of debt or servitude. To better understand a resource-based economy, consider this. If all the money in the world disappeared overnight, as long as topsoil, factories, personnel and other resources were left intact, we could build anything we needed to fulfill most human needs. It is not money that people require, but rather free access to most of their needs without worrying about financial security or having to appeal to a government bureaucracy. In a resource-based economy of abundance, money will become irrelevant. We have arrived at a time when new innovations in science and technology can easily provide abundance to all of the world's people. It is no longer necessary to perpetuate the conscious withdrawal of efficiency by planned obsolescence, perpetuated by our old and outworn profit system. If we are genuinely concerned about the environment and our fellow human beings, if we really want to end territorial disputes, war, crime, poverty and hunger, we must consciously reconsider the social processes that led us to a world where these factors are common. Like it or not, it is our social processes - political practices, belief systems, profit <b>...</b>

We feel it's a good idea to start doing some inventory of the land around you. Start linking up with like-minds locally. If you live in the city, and feel the pull to leave and join a sustainable, off-grid community, or build an earthship with a bunch of other people, we say go for it! With the on-going earth changes it might be helpful to start doing these things and putting them into practice sooner than later. And remember, most importantly...have fun!! This can be a very fun and creative process! :) Make sure to check out our buddy Jake aka RawUtah! :) www.youtube.com Our individual channels here: www.youtube.com www.youtube.com

A Resource Based Economy - No Money, No War, No Prisons, No Poverty, No Inequality

Historically, war has proven to be the single most devastating consequence of political incompetence and stupidity in today's society. It is a brutal display of unparalleled, unjustifiable animosity. It's also been proven to be the most profitable racket for the ruling elite and world banks, while concurrently being a central source for breeding inhumanity, crime and psychological neuroses. Therefore, it is long overdue that we embrace and implement a resource based economy. The resource based economic model is not based on monetary acquisition for the ruthless and apathetic exploitation of the planet's resources (including humans) or differential advantage. Rather, it's based on the intelligent management of the Earth's resources, life-support systems and raising the standard of living for the betterment of every single human being. Put a different way, It's the inferential application of the scientific method of arriving at solutions for universal social well-being and true sustainability. If we don't make a transition in the near future the corrupt pyramid-scheme banking system, kleptocrats, oligarchs and the military industrial complex will continue to profit from the unwarranted and unjust deaths of millions of innocent people. Why I support a 'Resource Based Economy'

There are 2 simple reasons presented in the video. 1) The un-sustainability of our current operating system, if you want to think of it as an OS. 2) The more sustainable, adequate nature of the proposed Resource Based Economy. It is less vulnerable in the short and medium term, and more sustainable in the long term, making it superior on just those merits. All of the merits possibly discussed under 'free market' monetary-based economics does not refute those points, and is an example of the logical fallacy of 'proof by example': because we can find good examples, does not evidence some kind of universal law whereby it is the optimal system, or denies its un-sustainability. This is also true if we assert that 'capitalism' has had a net positive affect on human civilization. Whether or not this is true, this does nothing to refute the two initial points and the concerns described in the video. IF YOU DISAGREE WITH AN RBE: If you disagree with an RBE, or with The Zeitgeist Movement, I absolutely respect views that are respectable. In other words, if genuine concerns, holes in the logic or other criticisms that are constructive and valid are put forward Im very keen to hear. Example of a valid concern: How could such a system even work without some kind of monetary incentive, and how would the land, the mines, the resources be consolidated in the first place, and what if people want to splinter off and live very alternative lifestyles? Example of an irrelevant derogatory <b>...</b>

What about democracy? A Resource Based Economy

The audio I have been using is from the radio show called V-Radio, by TVP spokesman Neil Kiernan. Please go to the original source, and start listening to V-Radio: v-radio.org It is an invaluable source. This is a brief clip of Peter Joseph discussing the concept of democracy and a Resource Based Economy. The aim is not for ideas to be made by elected decision makers, who are highly fallible, corruptible, and untrained beyond a specific point of focus. The aim, in fact, under a more effective, efficient and parsimonious approach, is for decisions to be arrived at via the scientific method. It is demonstrably the most reliable method in studying and understanding the underlying root cause of a given problem or challenge, and in providing subsequent solutions. At this time it is faster and more efficient than any process of legislation or the unfolding of profit seeking in providing real solutions for fundamental needs and provisions, as well as breaking the barriers of human innovation and potential. Science and mathematics stand as the most fundamentally reliable, least biased languages in denoting empirical truths, and applying our current state of understanding to the technological solutions that are the real solutions to the host of problems that still plague us across the planet, from barriers in time and space in achieving adequate communication, to wholesale starvation. The truth is that our current socioeconomic system, comprised of legal, economic, political and <b>...</b>

Paradise or Oblivion This video presentation advocates a new socio-economic system, which is updated to present-day knowledge, featuring the life-long work of Social Engineer, Futurist, Inventor and Industrial Designer Jacque Fresco, which he calls a Resource-Based Economy. This documentary details the root causes of the systemic value disorders and detrimental symptoms caused by our current established system. The film details the need to outgrow the dated and inefficient methods of politics, law, business, or any other "establishment" notions of human affairs, and use the methods of science, combined with high technology, to provide for the needs of all the world's people. It is not based on the opinions of the political and financial elite or on illusionary so-called democracies, but on maintaining a dynamic equilibrium with the planet that could ultimately provide abundance for all people. Paradise or Oblivion, by The Venus Project, introduces the viewer to a more appropriate value system that would be required to enable this caring and holistic approach to benefit human civilization. This alternative surpasses the need for a monetary-based, controlled, and scarcity-oriented environment, which we find ourselves in today. This is NOT the "major motion picture" that The Venus Project is working towards but rather is a short documentary to introduce the aims and proposals to new people. Is it centralized? A Resource Based Economy

Please check out the original source at V-Radio: v-radio.org The Zeitgeist Movement advocates the Venus Project, which is simply a name used to describe the work and ideas of Jacque Fresco. The emphasis, rather than on Fresco, or worrying about names, labels, and fallible individuals, is on the overarching observations and hence criticisms of the monetary system as a whole, rather than any local, ecological, or timely concern. Unlike many still valuable causes, the emphasis here is on the system itself, as the predominant source and underlying root cause of many and most of the world's increasingly crippling problems, from technological retardation, waste and unchecked pollution, to wholesale starvation. Furthermore, money and power are inextricably linked, and as Harvard professor Niall Ferguson stated, it functioned as portable power, the accumulation of wealth ran directly with the accumulation of power, and as I would add, this fact has historically permitted an ouroborus effect, in which both compliment one another and permit the other's perpetuation. Rather than declaring money to be evil, this is rather about a rational acknowledgment of its historical contingency, and emphasizing transitioning into a new paradigm that is able to function without it. This is the economic equivalent of the evolution of computation, in which vacuum tubes were continually shrunk down until, finally, they encountered a brick wall, and a paradigm shift occurred by moving on to <b>...</b>

After all the corrupt politicians, and the barriers of progress were removed, after corporate tentacles have been cut from our lives. what then? do we keep moving forward with a falsely justified system such as the monetary system? which only leads to corruption.or do we move in a more progressive path, such as a resource based economy,as suggested by Peter Joseph, Jacque Fresco and The Zeitgeist Movement? Our economy is on the verge of collapse that is guaranteed to occur if we keep down our current path. Even with a gold standard, bubbles are still created and corruption is still inherent. No matter what you believe in, the time has come to start thinking about the future of the world, the revolution is here and we welcome it. Money will always make for imbalance of power <b>...</b>

Distribution of goods and services without the use of money or tokens would be accomplished by establishing distribution centers. These centers would be similar to expositions, where the advantages of new products are explained and demonstrated. Exhibition centers will display what is new and available and will constantly be updated. If you visited Yellowstone National Park, you could check out a camera or camcorder, use it, and then return it to another distribution center or drop-off, eliminating storage and maintenance. Besides computerized centers throughout the communities where products would eventually be displayed, there will be 3-D, flat-screen imaging in each home. If you desire an item, an order can be placed and the item automatically delivered directly to your place of residence without a price tag, servitude, or debt of any kind. This includes whatever people need such as housing, clothing, education, health care, entertainment, etc <b>...</b>

Peter Joseph on the Monetary System, Debt, and a Resource-Based Economy (12/02/11)

To watch more visit us @ www.youtube.com twitter.com twitter.com New jobs numbers are out but don't be fooled by the drop in unemployment to 8.6 percent. More than half of that is people leaving the labor force entirely. Discouraged workers. People who have given up looking. This is the U3 number. Still, unemployment has not been this high for this long since monthly unemployment records began in 1948. Meanwhile, the MF Global plot thickens. Now that the firm has collapsed regulators are considering new rules restricting the use of customer money for brokerages. Now, the regulator, the commodities futures trading commission (CFTC( wanted to finish the new rules earlier this year but was delayed. Why? Heavy lobbying from MF Global chief executive Jon Corzine! So, with all of the problems in the world today, how do people begin to think about, let alone implement solutions that can improve their lives and those of others in society? Economists like Steve Keen support debt jubilees, others like Lew Rockwell and Ron Paul support sound money as the solution, but what about something more radical? What about getting grid of money, profit and competition all together? Well, Peter Joseph, author of the Zeitgeist series, believes that society can evolve to do just that. He joins us during the show to talk about the role of debt, the monetary system, and social norms that encourage what he views as inefficient and destructive behavior that does more harm for society than good.

TEDxO'Porto - Peter Joseph - Arriving at a Ressource-Based Economy

Peter Joseph is a Media Producer, Social Activist & Founder of The Zeitgeist Movement. While he is currently best known as the creator of the controversial films Zeitgeist: The Movie, Zeitgeist: Addendum and (the coming) Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, the central focus of his work now is specific to the development of a new global economic and social system referred to as a "Resource-Based Economy". After a prominent music conservatory, he then began work in film production and made his mark in the public mind with his award winning non-commercial first film release, which obtained over 100 million views as of 2009 on the internet, considered to be the most viewed online documentary of all time.
