Two years after his debut album '76', he returned with a new slew of trance tracks. 'Shivers' features a variety of guest vocalists and producers, including Dutch celebrity pianist and composer Jan Vayne, former Genesis singer Ray Wilson and the first lady in trance vocals, Justine Suissa. Shivers was recorded over two years, primarily in Amsterdam, San Francisco (with Gabriel & Dresden), Miami (with Markus Schulz and Mic Burns) and New York (with Nadia Ali of Iio). The first single off Shivers was its title track 'Shivers', which ended up high on the Dutch charts and made its mark on the international trance scene and as a Top 40 hit (Armins fifth) in his native Holland. Other songs on the album of note are 'Serenity', featuring Jan Vayne, which was the official anthem of Sensation White that year, and 'Golddigger' featuring the luscious vocals of Rosemarys Sons Martijn Hagens. Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1979: The Boys Next Door's promo-video for the single 'Shivers' (May, 1979), taken from the 1979 album 'Door, Door'. Note: Written by a 16 year old Rowland S. Howard in 1976, about an unrequited love; 'Shivers' is Howard's most famous song and is one of Australia's primary punk/post-punk anthems. Howard first recorded his song with his second band The Young Charlatans in 1978, before taking it to The Boys Next Door. The song has been recorded by Marie Hoy for the Richard Lowenstein film 'Dogs In Space', and was a chart-hit single for The Screaming Jets in the early nineties. This promo-video was taken from 'Nightmoves', a music television program in Australia which was produced by Mushroom records boss Michael Gudinski. On 8 August 2005 van Buuren released his second studio album, Shivers. On the album van Buuren worked with artists such as Pakistani American singer Nadia Ali, English singer Justine Suissa and American trance duo Gabriel & Dresden. On 11 November 2006, he had a live performance called Armin Only in Ahoy Rotterdam for the second time (after 12 November 2005) with a 9 hour solo set, where he performed to over 11000 fans. In the summer of 2007, van Buuren recorded and released a live set at Amnesia, Ibiza. Universal Religion Chapter 3, Live from Amnesia at Ibiza was released on 28 September 2007 as a mix compilation on Armada Records and in the US as "Universal Religion 2008" on Ultra Records on 4 December 2007.

The Player steps into the shoes of a teenager who is dared by his friends to spend the night in the grounds of a haunted museum - Professor Windlenot's Museum of the Strange and Unusual. The main character soon finds the way in and discovers more than was bargained for: the museum's owner, archaeologist Professor Windlenot, disappeared some 15 years before the story begins - as it turns out, he was killed by energy-sapping elemental spirits called Ixupi. In 1980 two teenagers also went missing; as the player explores, it becomes clear that they broke into the museum themselves and were also victims of the Ixupi. The object of the game is to survive the night by re-capturing the mischievous spirits of the Ixupi before they drain the player's life force. In order to do this, the player must collect and match up the vessels and lids which once contained the spirits, and then use each complete vessel on its corresponding Ixupi (eg the water element vessel, with the water element lid and the water element spirit) to re-capture them one by one. Of course, this is not as easy as it sounds, as the vessels have been separated from their lids and all of the components have been scattered around the museum, which is itself full of fiendish puzzles set up by the Professor.
