This was my first attempt at Speed Riding, a sport that combines high-speed paragliding (speed flying) with snowboarding or skiing. Speed riding is much more common in Europe than the US, especially in California for some reason. Per my conversation with the director of the Heavenly Ski Patrol, I'm apparently the first person to try it at their resort, and possibly the first at any resort in Tahoe. The canopy I used was a Safire2 169 loaded at 1.3 and the container/harness was designed and built by myself. When I launched, the winds at the top of the run (10040ft) were the best they had been in the last several days at about 15mph, but there was still the occasional gust at just under 25mph... A bit higher than I would have liked, but the direction was almost exactly in-line with the run and there was minimal turbulence, so I decided to go for it. Getting up on my board while controlling the canopy was pretty awkward, but being my first attempt, I think I did pretty well overall. Me taking my 2006 honda cbr 600rr out for a ride. i hit 157MPH on the one straight. im using a gopro motorsport hero wide camera. this is not the top speed at all of this bike. due to the camera being in the way i also cannot get very low to the tank making the bike a bit slower. also it was very hot and humid the day i shot this video making the bike significantly slower than if it where cold or not humid outside.

300 km/h motorcycle ride posted online launches BC police investigation Police on Vancouver Island are on the hunt for a motorcycle rider who posted a video of himself travelling at close to 300 kilometres per hour on a busy highway, weaving in and out of traffic. The motorcycle even sometimes passes on the centre line with vehicles only slightly more than a metre apart. Saanich police spokesperson, Sgt. Dean Jantzen, said officers were aware of the video shortly after it was posted on YouTube by user Joe Blow on April 8. Police are recommending charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. "I cannot use enough adjectives to describe how inappropriate this is," Jantzen said. He said the motorcycle is moving at nearly 100 metres per second at points in the video, far too fast for the rider to physically react to any sudden changes in traffic. "It puts everyone on the road at risk," he added. Police have received many tips from the public, and say the motorcycle in the video is a blue Yamaha. Jantzen notes that the public reaction to the video has been "99% negative." A quick survey of the YouTube video's comments suggest that is true, with many users furious about sharing the road with the driver. "I hope they catch you. You don't deserve to own a bike!" user WestCoastmum wrote in one of the more printable comments. Motorcycle enthusiasts seemed particularly incensed, saying the video paints them all in a bad light.
